Disabled People Against Cuts Northern Ireland (DPAC NI) will be proudly representing our community at the upcoming Mass Lobby Against Benefit Cuts, taking place on Wednesday, 21st May 2025, from 12–4pm at Westminster. Organised by the Coalition Against Benefit Cuts and DPAC UK, this critical event aims to confront MPs directly about the devastating impact of proposed welfare reforms on disabled people across the UK. dpac.uk.net
DPAC NI has been at the forefront of resistance against austerity and welfare cuts in Northern Ireland. Last month, we led a powerful protest outside Eskrine House in Belfast, where activists, trade unionists, and political leaders—including Claire Hanna (SDLP), Sorcha Eastwood (Alliance), Ash Jones (Green Party NI), and Gerry Carroll (People Before Profit)—stood united in opposition to the Labour Government’s latest round of welfare cuts. The proposed cuts threaten to strip vital support from over 3 million disabled people, potentially pushing 350,000 individuals—including 50,000 children—into poverty. Additionally, 150,000 carers are at risk of losing payments, exacerbating the existing crisis in social care. These reforms are not just numbers; they represent real lives and communities under threat. labouroutlook.org
DPAC NI stands in solidarity with our comrades across the UK to demand justice, dignity, and full rights for disabled people. We urge everyone to join us in this crucial action to hold the government accountable and to protect the rights and livelihoods of disabled individuals
